For website hosting, check whether the service can run your site, handle its traffic, and provide the backups and support you need. Know who's responsible for security too, rather than relying on a promise of "unlimited" resources.<\/p>\n\n\n For cloud storage, distinguish synchronization from backup, because if a deleted or encrypted file is immediately synchronized everywhere, you may need version history or a separate protected backup to recover it.<\/p>\n\n\n Ask what the provider promises when the service is unavailable. Uptime percentages are less useful without a status page, support channel, incident communication, restoration process, and an explanation of what a service credit actually covers.<\/p>\n\n\n Introductory domain, hosting, and software prices may rise sharply at renewal. The FTC's auto-renewal guidance<\/a> recommends confirming the expected renewal cost and knowing how to cancel.<\/p>\n\n\n Include required add-ons, storage, mailboxes, backups, security tools, overages, migration, support, and restoration fees. A low hosting price isn’t a bargain if the backup you assumed was included can’t restore the site you run.<\/p>\n\n\n Ask how to export email, files, website content, databases, DNS records, logs, and account history in useful formats. Confirm whether the provider charges for migration or restricts transfer during a dispute or cancellation period.<\/p>\n\n\n For a domain, you should know who can unlock it and obtain the transfer authorization. For a website, know whether you own the custom code, design files, premium licenses, and administrator access needed by another provider.<\/p>\n\n\n Keep one record of each critical service, its purpose, owner, administrator, renewal, recovery method, dependencies, data-export process, and replacement plan. Review it when an employee or vendor leaves and before every major renewal.<\/p>\n\n\n Convenience is valuable, and one capable provider may manage several services well, but convenience should come from coordinated management, not from losing independent control. The test is simple: if the provider disappeared tomorrow, could you prove ownership, recover access, retrieve your data, and keep the business operating?<\/p>\n Evaluate domains, email, hosting, cloud
