{"id":149,"date":"2023-06-07T18:58:10","date_gmt":"2023-06-07T22:58:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/liveminderconnect.com\/business\/?p=149"},"modified":"2026-08-03T15:20:58","modified_gmt":"2026-08-03T19:20:58","slug":"what-has-affected-my-income-the-most","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/liveminderconnect.com\/business\/dexters-insights\/what-has-affected-my-income-the-most\/","title":{"rendered":"What Has Affected My Income the Most?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(Me breaking down the one small mindset shift that is responsible for most of my income growth month after month).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Question:<\/strong> What has affected my income the most?<\/p><div id=\"td-ad-rotator-29-31bcf71f-36ef-466b-b892-51023949c284\" class=\"td-ad-rotation-cache-bridge\" data-td-ad-group=\"29\" data-td-ad-args=\"{&quot;is_top_level&quot;:true,&quot;post&quot;:0,&quot;output&quot;:{&quot;class&quot;:[&quot;liveminder-728x90-content-ads&quot;,&quot;liveminder-entity-placement&quot;],&quot;placement_id&quot;:&quot;198&quot;},&quot;ad_label&quot;:&quot;default&quot;}\" aria-live=\"polite\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the years, I&#8217;ve often heard, &#8220;<em>income producing activities<\/em>,&#8221; or &#8220;<em>profit producing activities<\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But what does that mean, and more importantly, how do you put that into practice?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I used to think, and was taught, that certain activities naturally generated sales, but it&#8217;s not that simple, because I was doing those activities, but I wasn&#8217;t making much money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Write a blog post a day, (or 2-3 each week) and promote.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create video content.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make a podcast.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Network on social media and make connections.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Post daily on social media.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All of those activities, and more, are great and are necessary to brand yourself and your business. The problem comes when those activities become the goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I started judging my daily success on whether those tasks were done or not, and when I wasn&#8217;t getting the sales I desired, I figured I was doing something wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most strategies for success are based around becoming popular. You know what I mean. It&#8217;s &#8220;be an influencer,&#8221; &#8220;be a leader,&#8221; &#8220;reach the masses,&#8221; etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But popularity doesn&#8217;t equal profitability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A great example of that was Twitter when I originally wrote this. It had built enormous reach without turning that popularity into consistent profitability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In my quest to figure out what&#8217;s wrong, one of the people I look to said something in a training session, oddly enough, about another topic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said, &#8220;<em>the amount of money you make is directly related to the number of people you ask to buy<\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And he wasn&#8217;t talking about slapping a call to action on every blog you write and email you send either.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Selling requires more than a call to action. You have to serve your audience and offer them value, but assuming you do, how many people are you asking to buy every day?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That was my eureka moment, and immediately after understanding it, my goals and priorities changed from getting stuff done, to getting sales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I started with one a month, then it went to two a month, then one a week, and now I&#8217;m working on one a day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That simple shift changed everything that followed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The people I connect with changed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The content I write changed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How I engage changed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How I market changed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Where I market changed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I still do all of the same things, but the goal went from doing them because that&#8217;s what successful people do, to doing them with a specific purpose in mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since then, I&#8217;ve watched my income steadily grow month after month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And now that I&#8217;m scaling my business, the question I&#8217;m asking isn&#8217;t, &#8220;how do I do more?&#8221; or &#8220;how do I automate?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because a common misconception is that doing more and automating makes you more money, but like popularity, automation doesn&#8217;t mean profit either.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I&#8217;m asking a very different question now &#8211; what systems do I need to have in place in order to ask more people to buy on a daily basis? If you&#8217;re a person who is doing all of the things, but not making the money you want, things should have just clicked for you.<\/p>\n\n<div
